Do you have a floatation suit that needs washing, or a buoyancy jacket that needs a refresh?
Our flowy leisurewear can be washed in a washing machine, but you must take some precautions to ensure that the garment's functions are not damaged.
Here is our checklist :
- Close all zippers and Velcro fasteners before washing.
- Wash the garment inside out.
- Machine wash, max 40 degrees. Select a program such as "delicates" or "wool/silk" to avoid high spin speed during spinning.
- Use a mild liquid detergent, such as Neutral or Blenda Sensitive. You must Do not use Milo , as it contains lanolin which settles on the float material.
- Avoid detergents that contain bleach.
- If you are trying to remove a difficult stain, you can (at your own risk) try Windproof cream from C soaps – but then you must impregnate the garment once it has dried after washing. The cream is sold at health food stores, among other places.
- Avoid using fabric softener.
- Do not use impregnation agent in the washing machine as this will settle on the garment's floating material and may affect buoyancy.
- Dry the floatation suit inside out to help it dry faster. Do not use a dryer or a heating cabinet.
- When the garment is dry, you can spray with impregnation, for example from NikWax.
